Henry "Hank" Blethen

Henry “Hank” L. Blethen, well known as “COACH H ANK”, of Enfield, passed from his earthly journey at the age of 54, on Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014) with loved ones at his side at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford. Hank was the beloved husband of Michelle K. (Blankenship) Blethen. He was born on June 27, 1959 in Hartford, CT the son of the late Henry R. and Rita C. (McNally) Blethen. He was a lifelong resident of Enfield, graduate of Enfield High School, Asnuntuck C.C. and Community College of the Air Force. Hank was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. He served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Air National Guard, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Washington Irving Council50, Enfield and Elks Lodge B.P.O.E # 2222, Enfield. He coached various sports, enjoyed listening to Oldies music, working out and was an avid Red Sox fan, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with family. Besides his wife Michelle, Hank is survived by his loving children; Gina Mirando of FL, Steven Blethen of Boston, MA, Henry Blethen of San Diego, CA and Kaitlyn Blethen of Enfield. He is also survived by a brother Edward J. McCusker & his wife Kathy of Atlanta, GA, and a sister Joanne Rousseau & her husband Al of Seabrook, NH, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Norma Anne McCarthy. Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday Feb. 6, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. in Enfield, The funeral services will take place on Friday Feb. 7, with the procession forming at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to Holy Family Church 23 Simon Rd. Enfield for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery in Enfield. Memorial donations in Hank’s memory may be made to NWS Elite Inc, Fastpitch Softball, C/O Mike Markiewicz, President, 24 S. View Dr. Southwick, MA 01077.
